NEWS, TIPS & GUIDES FROM AROUND THE BENCH

October 2022 | Issue #6

Arieno Dental

October is here - has this year been flying by OR WHAT? The leaves are starting to turn colors, pumpkins are lining stoops, and fall is in the air. As we start to settle in to soup and sweater season, we begin to look over the last year and can't help but to be proud of what we have achieved and accomplished.

This month we've planned an employee Bowling Night that we are looking forward to, and sshhhhhhhhh- we've already started planning for our 30th Year Anniversary Jamboree Bash coming up in June.

Coming Up in November

  • Remember to FALL BACK - remember to turn your clocks back one hour on Sunday, November 6.

  • Arieno Dental will be closed November 24th & 25th for Thanksgiving, reopening Monday the 28th.

Tips From the Lab

Make sure your adjacent anterior teeth are clearly defined, this will ensure we can build you (and your patient) appropriate and matching contours.

The model below shows an example of what an undefined adjacent anterior looks like, illustrating how difficult it would be to match a tooth's contours to.

Color Matching Tips

Teeth are as unique as fingerprints. Our goal is to provide patients with restorations that look natural, instilling with in them a greater sense of pride and confidence. Equipping us with the tools and information necessary to produce the perfect shade match is one of the most important steps in cosmetic dentistry. Dentists whom successfully gauge the appropriate color match and clearly communicate this information to the lab, will ensure the best possible outcome for the patient.

There are many different types of shade guides your office can use to get that perfect match for your patient, specifying the type of guide could make the difference between a wow case and a bow-wow case.

Our standard here at the lab is the Classic VITA Shade Guide, you are however welcome to use any guide your office prefers. As you can see in the reference photos, many chips that use the same codes can look completely different depending on the guide. In order to make the best possible product for you and your patient, please specify clearly in the script which guide you are using.

When blends and shades are highly characterized and difficult to explain on a lab script, you can always send your patient to our lab to meet with a skilled technician for a custom shade. Personal attention and a trained eye for lighting, color, and how internal characteristics relate to existing dentition, make this a good solution for accurate custom work.
